5 Valuable resources to up-skill your law firm's in-house marketing team

Marketing, specifically digital marketing, is constantly moving, shifting and evolving. This is great in many ways, it certainly keeps life interesting, but also serves us marketers as we're consistently exploring new avenues in which clients can be attracted, engaged, and communicated with.

However, this also means knowledge becomes quickly outdated. This is why it's so essential to keep your in-house team up-to-date with the latest strategies and techniques.

To help you choose the right resources, here are five proven options I've personally enjoyed dipping into over the years. These cater to varying training budgets, and are designed to enhance marketing knowledge and provide valuable longer-term strategic training for your team...

This is an excellent source of professional services marketing expertise. It offers a wealth of articles, case studies, and webinars covering various marketing topics, all based on extensive research.

OpenLearn provides free, self-paced courses, making it a budget-friendly option for acquiring marketing skills. Head to the 'Business and Money' section and you'll find marketing training there. What's convenient about OpenLearn, is you can complete these courses whenever it suits you with no specific deadlines or pressure.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) offers a range of courses that are widely respected and recognised in Marketing. I personally completed a CIM course two years ago, and it was a game-changer for my personal development (and I met some lovely people along the way.)

It should be noted that CIM courses are known for their depth and quality. While they do require a significant time commitment (I spent 8-10 hours a week on study alongside full-time work), the knowledge and skills gained are well worth the effort. The courses are taught by industry experts, and the curriculum is constantly updated to align with the latest marketing trends and technologies.

This isn't a 'course' but a fabulous newsletter. It isn't tailored to the legal sector, but looks at marketing trends which directly affect us. You can stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies with this newsletter, which provides insights into new market opportunities.

The kinds of topics they communicate about are: 8 Top Competitor Intelligence Tools (2023), 8 Best PR Tools (2023), and 21+ Retargeting Statistics and Trends (2023), to name three examples.

Last but by no means least, exclusive to LFMC members, this resource section offers templates, checklists, guides, and links to enhance legal marketing efforts.

The value of the resources is over £1500 - and we are always adding to this to provide maximum value to our members.
